Wing Commander IV | |

If you haven't played the Wing Commander series yet, you're missing out on what must surely be one of the best series released in the history of computer games. Yep, you've guessed it - I'm a WC addict and proud of it.
Let's face it - we've heard the term "Interactive Movie" bandied about a lot in the last few years, but the ratio of failures to success is dismal. Origin did much to redress this balance with Wing Commander 3, so it was with great excitement I checked out the WC4 press kit they sent (thanks, guys, now where's my review copy ;-).
On the "Wow!" factor (how impressed I initially was), I doubted I would ever see anything to surpass the WC3 opening sequence. Well, I was wrong. In fact there were eight of us in my (small) study for the "unveiling" and the collective WOW!!! shook the windows and scared the cat out of the room. The graphics and soundtrack are just that good. Forget interactive movie, this looks so much like a movie trailer it's scary. We were all waiting for the words "coming soon to a cinema near you".
Anyway, enough drooling. WC4 hit the shops here today, and I'm going to buy a copy this evening. In the meantime, I'm going to share with you some of the stuff from the press kit, which is in itself impressive - it came on a nicely printed CD-ROM and ran without any drama.
Each of the following links also includes images I've picked up from the press kit. These alone are worth a look!
